Jasmin Grandel was on the phone with Ticketmaster as soon as the clock struck 10 a.m. on Friday.
The Regina woman scored two floor tickets to Garth Brooks’ concert at Mosaic Stadium on Aug. 9.
“I don’t think that it’s really sunk in that I’m going yet but I’m really stoked that I got the opportunity to snatch good tickets,” said Grandel, who plans to take her mother, Contessa Grandel, to the show.
“I’m really excited. But I don’t think it will kick in until the tickets are there in my hand and I’m going.”
Brooks had one concert scheduled for Aug. 10, but that show sold out in an hour. The country singer then added another concert, to be held Aug. 9.
“We weren’t going to go originally until he opened up this second show and then we both were kind of like, ‘OK, this is a sign from the universe. We’d better get on it,’ ” Grandel said.
“I’m really excited to just spend that time with (Contessa) and treat her to Garth Brooks.”
This will be Jasmin’s first time seeing Brooks — Contessa went to one of his concerts a few years ago — but she confirmed she likes his music.
“It has been a while since I’ve listened to him, I’m not going to lie, but you can’t mess up an opportunity like that — especially since I hear this is the only place he’s stopping in Canada,” said Jasmin, who then explained her affinity for Brooks’ performances.
“It’s original. I don’t think anyone since Garth Brooks has been able to mimic the sound that he has (and) mimic the events that he can create. I’ve seen a lot of his things on YouTube and on TV and all of his shows and I just don’t think that there’s anything like it that you can get out of a country show.”
