Queen City Pride is hoping to parade through history Saturday with a fresh route to mark its 30th anniversary.
This year, the parade is starting off in the Warehouse District, behind Centennial Market, and will wrap up at the Royal Saskatchewan Museum.
City transit and shuttles will be available after the parade to help those who participated in it get back to their vehicles.
In a Facebook post, Queen City Pride said parade goers will pass several “culturally significant” places — including Scarth Street Station (the former location of the Gay and Lesbian Community of Regina), Q Nightclub, the rainbow and trans crosswalks on 13th Avenue, and UR Pride’s new SPACE for Saskatchewan’s queer and trans youth.
In terms of the parade’s grand marshals this year, Queen City Pride has put out an open invitation to “the past and future voices of pride” to lead it.
“Let us never forget the many paths and histories that brought us here. Let us not lose focus on the work that still has to be done here in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada and around the world,” Queen City Pride wrote in its grand marshal entry letter.
The parade starts at noon.
