Agriculture ministers from the provincial and federal governments have announced a few measures to help Saskatchewan farmers deal with dry conditions.
The Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Program’s deadline to seed crops that will be used for greenfeed has been extended from June 30 to July 15. Farmers, including those who did not endorse greenfeed on their insurance contracts, will have until then to do so.
Customers who want to use their annual crop acres for livestock grazing or feed are being encouraged to contact their local Crop Insurance office.
For ranchers in the Western Livestock Price Insurance Program, the 60-day continuous criteria is being waived for this grazing season.
As well, the deadline to enrol in the AgriStability program has been extended until July 2.
