Premier Brad Wall offered to travel to Prince Albert, however Mayor Greg Dionne has requested the visit be postponed until the city’s state of emergency is over.
In Wall’s place will be a representative from Husky Energy and an insurance agent.
The city has incurred significant costs both protecting the water treatment plant and finding alternative water sources. Husky Energy has said hey will compensate impacted communities.
Husky has also arranged for a water treatment expert to visit Prince Albert this weekend to work with city staff and other government agencies to explore all potential water solutions.
During a press conference Wednesday, Dionne said he wanted the Premier and Minister Jim Reiter to stay in Regina to provide direct support to the city.
