While the clean-up continues from the oil spill, the NDP is stepping into the political fray.
Having been on the ground in the affected areas, leader Trent Wotherspoon doesn’t think the government is doing enough to inform people what is going on.
“Right now the priority has to be the full clean-up of the river, the protection and security of the drinking water and there is too much uncertainty at this point on both those fronts,” Wotherspoon argued.
“This is devastating and it is a provincial crisis that hasn’t been responded to as a provincial crisis.”
Wotherspoon and other NDP MLAs traveled to Prince Albert Tuesday, meeting with residents and Mayor Gregg Dionne. Several photographs were posted on social media.
The city of P.A. and North Battleford deferred a visit from Premier Brad Wall saying they were satisfied with the provincial response and what is being done by officials on the ground.
