The Canadian Football League could do the Saskatchewan Roughriders a big favour and STOP giving them the Toronto Argonauts for the home opener.
Last year the home opener was the lowest-attended game, and judging by the map on Ticketmaster, this year’s home opener isn’t really the hottest ticket in town.
But when push comes to shove, do the Riders have to rethink how they sell the experience of going to a game? I’m not sure a big flag and a band we’ve forgotten about is going to do it.
Affordability is another issue. Food prices have been a complaint as fan-friendly pricing is becoming more of a trend that hasn’t hit Saskatchewan as of yet.
The Riders also recently promoted parking for ONLY $30. ONLY $30? I wouldn’t call that a deal.
Seats in the highest section are over $70, and you’re starting to overestimate how much people are willing to spend, especially in an economic climate where belts have tightened.
So far football has been all you had to sell to get people to the park, but fans are asking for more. The Riders are doing a little, but I’m not sure it’ll be enough.
