The Stanley Cup is making its way to the Queen City.
980 CJME has learned Premier Scott Moe will host Wilcox’s Jaden Schwartz and Regina’s Tyler Bozak at the legislative building on July 6. Both were key members of the St. Louis Blues as the team won its first Stanley Cup in 52 years of existence. Saskatoon’s Brayden Schenn was also a part of the Cup-winning squad.
“Saskatchewan was proud to have three of our boys on the ice when the St. Louis Blues won the Stanley Cup and we are thrilled that Tyler Bozak and Jaden Schwartz will be bringing the cup home,” Moe said in a release.
Schwartz has spent his entire eight-season career in St. Louis after being picked by the team in the first round (14th overall) in the 2010 NHL entry draft.
Bozak spent nine years with the Toronto Maple Leafs before signing with St. Louis prior to the 2018-19 season as a free agent.
Bozak and Schwartz will speak before fans are given a chance to get their photo with the Cup.
“Bringing the Stanley Cup to Saskatchewan is a dream come true for me,” Schwartz said in a release.
The Blues defeated the Boston Bruins in Game 7 of a hard-fought series on June 12.
Bozak, Schwartz and Schenn were among the team’s top scorers throughout the playoffs.
The event is to get underway at 11:30 a.m.
