Saskatoon police are asking people who live in apartments and condos to keep an eye on their mailboxes.
Police said in a media release that they’ve had about 20 reports of thefts and attempted thefts from mailboxes in multi-unit buildings so far this year.
In one case, police said a 25-year-old woman arrested this week for trying to get into mailboxes in an apartment building on 5th Avenue North was found with stolen cheques.
Police are urging people to collect their mail daily and to report any suspicious activity. They’re also suggesting that any mail which might contain cheques or credit cards be directed to a post office, where it would have to be signed for.
