Tiger Woods admitted that the 2019 Masters win took a lot out of him. The 43-year-old Woods was speaking in the lead-up to The Open in Northern Ireland. A sincere Tiger talked about having his kids around him during last year’s Open, and having his children greet him after the win at Augusta in April. Tiger also said, “Its hard to believe I pulled it off.”
Woods has always had great respect for the history of the game, but I always got the sense that he felt he was above others, because he was so talented and because he won so often. I didn’t get that sense as he met the media in the lead-up to The Open.
I’ve never met Tiger Woods. I, just like many of you, go by what I see on TV. I’ll admit I wasn’t always a fan of his early career attitude. At times his off-course behaviour was a turnoff.
However, golf is just more interesting when Tiger is on the course. This demonstration of humility, as he approaches his mid-40s, is a nice touch.
