RCMP have updated their investigation into the death of Tiki Laverdiere by asking for the public’s assistance in finding a pick-up truck believed to be associated with her murder.
The Major Crime Unit North issued a description of the truck via media release Friday.
It’s a 1997 black Dodge Ram 1500 regular cab pick-up truck with Saskatchewan license plate 333 KLC. The truck has a single row of seats and a single set of doors. RCMP said the truck has a standard transmission, faded black paint and a white sticker across the top of the rear window.
Mounties noted the vehicle was stolen in North Battleford on May 2. They believe it could be in the area of the Mooseman First Nation or in Cochin, but cannot confirm the reports.
Laverdiere, from Edmonton, was last seen in North Battleford on May 1. She was in the area after attending a funeral on Thunderchild First Nation on April 27.
On July 10, police searched a rural area near the city and found human remains later identified as Laverdiere.
Shayla Orthner, 27, was arrested on July 20 and charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping, improperly interfering with a human body and theft of a motor vehicle.
On Tuesday, Danita Thomas, 32, was arrested and given matching charges in connection with Laverdiere’s death.
Brent Checkosis, 18, was the latest person to be charged on Thursday. He’s facing charges of being an accessory after the fact to murder, improperly interfering with a human body and theft of a motor vehicle.
RCMP said they expect to issue more charges in the coming weeks.
