10:00 – After Evan Thomas lost his life in the Humboldt Broncos bus crash, his father Scott Thomas set up a memorial trust fund in his name. The fund has raised $21,000, and this week the funds were shared with seven deserving groups. Thomas joins John now to discuss where the money went and how the funds will help the community after the tragic crash.

11:00 – The Canadian Taxpayers Federation and First Nations activist Charmaine Stick won a groundbreaking court decision late last month when they secured a contempt-of-court order against the Onion Lake Cree Nation, giving the band 30 days to publish its audited financial statements from 2017 and 2018 online, including the salaries paid to its chief and council. Todd McKay with the CTF says the decision sends a clear message that residents of First Nations communities have the right to see their band’s books. Stick has also collected more than 30,000 signatures on a petition calling for better First Nations transparency, which she delivered to the Prime Minister’s office this week. McKay and Stick join John now to discuss the case and the importance of transparency.
