The $1.33M rent reduction comes from what the club owed during seasons impacted by the pandemic.
Long-serving MP Brad Trost is running for the leadership of the federal Conservative party.
Speaking on Gormley Wednesday morning, the 42-year-old confirmed he and his team have begun the early work to prepare for the campaign.
“I have a campaign team up and going, I have a website going, I have most of my signature, if not all of them already gathered. And we’ve started to gather money to put together the deposit to get into this thing officially,” he said.
An outspoken critic of abortion and same-sex marriage, Trost said he has no plans to soften either of those positions.
“People want principled leadership. There are people who don’t agree with me on my social conservative views. But they do appreciate the point that I’m consistent, I stick with what I believe and I won’t bail on them on other issues,” he said.
Trost was first elected to Parliament in 2004.
The Conservative leadership convention will be held May 27, 2017.
