The city’s newest sinkhole is going to be around for a bit longer.
When the sinkhole at the intersection of Pasqua Street and Parliament Avenue opened on Aug. 6, city officials said they hoped the hole would be repaired by the end of that week.
Now the city is saying the hole won’t be filled until late next week, weather permitting.
On Friday starting at 6 p.m., crews are to put a camera into the sewer hole to see if there are any other “breaks or failures underground,” as the city put it in a media release. As a result, Pasqua between Parliament and Laubach avenues will be closed to northbound traffic until Saturday morning.
Then, on Monday, crews will put asphalt over the hole. According to the city, those repairs “are expected to be complete in four days, depending on weather or unforeseen circumstances.”
The sinkhole is the second to open up in a city street in a little more than a month.
