A traffic stop for improper equipment turned into much more for RCMP officers earlier this week.
According to a media release from the RCMP, officers stopped a vehicle on Highway 16 near Maidstone on Wednesday for failing to have proper mud flaps — a violation of the Saskatchewan Vehicle Equipment Regulations.
The Mounties said “ due to several factors that will be presented as part of the court process,” officers searched the vehicle and found three kilograms of methamphetamine, half a kilogram of cocaine, and three handguns.
Two Edmonton men, ages 31 and 33, are facing a variety of charges, including possession of cocaine and meth for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. They also face several firearms offences.
The men made their first appearances in North Battleford Provincial Court on Friday.
