A 23-year-old Regina man whose car was stopped due to a damaged windshield is now facing drug charges.
According to the RCMP, a member of the Saskatchewan RCMP Roving Traffic Unit stopped an eastbound vehicle on the Trans-Canada Highway west of Swift Current on Thursday for having what the RCMP said was “excessive windshield damage.”
The officer, following up on what the release called “several factors that will be presented as part of the court process,” searched the vehicle. His search found 130 grams of cocaine packaged for distribution, Canadian money, drug-packaging materials and a cellphone. The vehicle also was seized.
The man faces charges of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000. He’s to make his first court appearance in Swift Current Provincial Court on Nov. 13.
