It is a day to celebrate the Queen City, and to let people know why they love living here.
People gathered at Victoria Park Saturday for the annual I Love Regina Day.
“We have a beautiful day, fantastic day, not a cloud in the sky,” explained mayor Michael Fougere.
Fougere said events like this are important because they help showcase the city.
“We have grown as a city over the last decade, we have new people coming into our city all the time, we have so many things to offer, we have a great quality of life, a great downtown.”
Many of those who showed up spoke about why they love Regina.
One woman remarked she likes the city specifically because of events like this. Another woman, who is originally from Calgary, said she likes Regina because of the green spaces.
A number of people also said they like how diverse the city is and they enjoy the sense of community.
I Love Regina Day started in 2002 at the Conexus Arts Centre with a community pep rally. Over 500 people attended the event that year.
