Dr. Jean Twenge has argued smartphones were the most likely cause behind the sudden increases in mental health issues among teens after 2012, and she joins John now to discuss how much time youths should spend in front of electronic devices, and the issues they can create.

11:00 – New research by the Movember Foundation has found more than a third of Canadian men worry they might be held back from a promotion at work if they mentioned a mental health issue, and 42% were concerned colleagues would make negative comments behind their backs if they discussed mental health issue at work. Kyle Moffatt, a Regina spokesperson for Movember and mental health advocate, knows about the importance of talking about mental health. Moffatt watched his father battle mental health issues until he eventually took his own life, and Moffatt also struggled with suicidal thoughts. Moffatt joins Gormley now to discuss the importance of looking after our mental health.

12:00 – Saskatoon’s own Sandra Nelson is a finalist in Maxim’s 2019 cover girl contest, after she was invited to submit an application based on her Instagram page. The winner of the contest will receive $25,000 US and a full feature cover on Maxim Magazine, along with a photo shoot with legendary photographer Gilles Bensimon. The first round ends Sept. 12, and Nelson joins John now to talk about the contest and how she made it this far.
