A Lloydminster man is accused of stealing a vehicle belonging to some Good Samaritans who stopped to help following a crash east of the city.
According to RCMP, officers were called at approximately 3:15 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25 to respond to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 303. Before they arrived, the occupants of a white Chevy Silverado pickup truck stopped to help. The driver of the wrecked vehicle, who was in need of medical attention, stole their truck and left.
Police arrived to find a burning Porsche Cayenne, an SUV-type vehicle. The Silverado was later found, burned, north of Paradise Hill near Perch Lake.
RCMP arrested Daniel Fenrich, 23, at a home in Lloydminster on Sunday, Aug. 28, and he was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. He’s in custody facing charges of vehicle theft, dangerous driving, common nuisance, and two counts of driving while disqualified. His next court date is Thursday, Sept. 1.
During their investigation, RCMP also arrested a woman for obstructing police. However, she was released without being charged.
Investigators want to talk with anyone who saw the incident, or the events leading up to it, involving a black Porsche Cayenne, similar to the one pictured.
