A Moose Jaw man is the center of an aggravated sexual assault case coming from Regina’s North Central nearly a couple weeks ago.
Regina police said the alleged incident happened on Aug. 20 at a home on the 1000 block of Montague Street.
The investigation revealed the victim, a 49-year-old woman, was assaulted and sexually assaulted at that residence.
Police learned about the incident on Aug. 21 when officers were dispatched to a hospital for a report of a woman who was the victim of a sexual assault. She was also receiving treatment for injuries consistent with a serious physical assault and strangulation.
The accused, Armand Yates Standingready, 42, was recently arrested in Moose Jaw. He is charged with aggravated sexual assault and overcome resistance by attempting to choke or suffocate.
Standingready made his first court appearance Thursday.
