Tell us about yourself
Oh where, oh where to begin? How about at the beginning …
Like Tim Hortons, have been brewing smiles since 1964. Graduated from the school of hard knocks. Served in the military for eight years. The political bug bit me in 1990 and life has never been the same. My first election was in 1997 in Calgary when I represented the old Social Credit Party. (I seem to like longshots.) This will be my 12th election.
In my defence I like to point out that Abe Lincoln lost eight elections and Winston Churchill, five. I beat them both. Just sayin’.
What’s a little-known fact about you?
I’m an open book. Literally. You can read my bio online at JeffWillerton.com.
Why should voters hire you?
Because I’m the only actual conservative on the ballot.
Who should we call for a reference?
Am I applying for a job here? Well, I mean, I know I am, but … with you?
What is your greatest strength? What is your greatest weakness?
My greatest strength is my sticktoitiveness. I don’t give up.
Where do you stand on:
Gun laws? For. Carry concealed laws, that is.
The need for more pipelines? Absolutely. Saudi facilities have been bombed. Disruptions forthcoming. Where does that leave us without pipelines?
Western alienation? A growing reality. If the east insists on electing a narcissistic panty waist who is systematically destroying this country, can you blame them?
China? What should our approach be with some of our markets blocked? The Chinese government destroyed Novotel, they’ve kidnapped two of our citizens and they are masters at industrial subterfuge. We owe them nothing.
Are we facing a climate change crisis? Is carbon tax the answer? No we are not. Carbon is a building block of life, and the more of it in the atmosphere the more robust our produce, for instance. The only thing a carbon tax is the answer to is prosperity, as if that were a problem.
It’s a day off and you can do anything you want. What would it be?
Read.
Who inspires you?
The gentleman who stood down a tank in Tiananmen Square.
What is your hidden talent?
Guitar player and singer.
What do you wish you could do but can’t?
Speak publicly.
Who are the three people, dead or alive, that you’d love to have dinner with?
Winston Churchill, William Wilberforce and Abe Lincoln.
How do you take your coffee?
Black.
What’s the one album you’d take with you on a desert island? What embarrassing song do you admit to on your playlist?
James Taylor’s Greatest Hits.
What is your guilty pleasure?
Desserts.
What is the last book you read?
Hitler and the Nazi Darwinian Worldview by Jerry Bergman (GREAT BOOK!).
What is your favourite TV show? What are you binge watching?
Anything on the Food Network.
What is your all-time favourite movie?
Secretariat. (Seen it 10 times)
