Yellow police tape surrounded a house on Montreal Street where a man was found dead early Thursday morning.
Police officers and EMS were called to the home just off Saskatchewan Drive at 6:25 a.m. When they arrived on the scene, EMS confirmed the man was dead.
Members of the Regina Police Service major crimes unit were on scene along with the provincial coroner.
Across the street Daryl Holmes watched from his front yard as pictures were snapped and CSI-like forensic investigators draped in baby blue garbage bag-type suits combed through the crime scene.
“I woke up this morning and there was police everywhere, the house was taped off, I was told someone was dead,” recalled Holmes as he held his young daughter in his arms.
She’s one of this three young children. Holmes was paying particular interest to whatever happened at the house out of safety for his family.
“This neighbourhood is starting to be like North Central. Nothing surprises me anymore,” he said, after having lived in that area.
Holmes said the death was the last straw.
“I’m moving at the end of the month with my kids. They don’t need to see this crap anymore.”
Investigators are still working to identify the man and determine the cause and circumstances of his death.
