A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for a Saskatchewan man who’s facing a charge of second-degree murder.
The RCMP is asking for the public’s help in locating Jonathan Dufraine or either of two missing vehicles that investigators believe may have been involved in the incident.
The Mounties are on the lookout for a silver 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe XL with Saskatchewan licence plate 411 KIZ. The SUV is reportedly dirty with damage to the bumpers.
As well, the RCMP is searching for a grey, four-door 1996 Chevrolet Lumina with Saskatchewan licence plate 077 LPV.
Dufraine, 38, is wanted in connection with the death of Zane Kiseyinewakup, who was killed Wednesday in the Big Island Lake Cree Territory.
Dufraine was last seen on Wednesday in the Big Island Lake Cree Territory. He’s described as 5-foot-6 and 130 pounds, with short black hair and brown eyes. He last was seen wearing grey jogging pants, a black sweater, a red ball cap with a black brim, black shoes and a red bandana around his neck.
Dufraine is considered armed and dangerous, so the RCMP is advising members of the public to call 911 instead of approaching him.
Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Dufraine or the two vehicles is asked to call their local police department or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
Another wanted man arrested
A 58-year-old man who was the subject of a Canada-wide warrant was picked up in Swift Current on Wednesday.
An off-duty Swift Current City RCMP officer was driving to work when he saw a car with a Manitoba licence plate driving erratically.
The officer called the Swift Current Rural detachment and was informed the car had been stolen from a dealership in Winnipeg on Sept. 30. Officers from the Rural detachment subsequently stopped the vehicle just outside of Swift Current on the Trans-Canada Highway.
A search of the vehicle turned up two large knives, a black balaclava, zip ties, a forged social insurance card and a forged driver’s licence.
The man was taken into custody and is to make his first court appearance Wednesday.
