9:30 – Calgary oil executive William Lacey, who was told to remove his “I Love Canadian Oil & Gas” t-shirt while on a tour of Parliament Hill last month, said he was gravely offended when Thomas Lukaszuk, who served as Alberta’s deputy premier from 2012-2013, compared those wearing the t-shirts to Nazis. In a Tweet sent Tuesday, Lukaszuk said Premier Kenney plans to encourage Albertans to wear the t-shirts when visiting the Legislature, and he attached a picture of a crowd giving the Nazi salute. Lacey called out Lukaszuk for his post, but the former politician doubled down, saying “governments encouraging citizens to wear certain apparel or symbol [sic] is a step in that direction.” Lacey joins Gormley now to discuss the ongoing fallout from his surprisingly-controversial t-shirt.

10:00 – Late last month, while young Greta Thunberg was slamming the UN’s climate summit for not doing enough to combat climate change, an international group of more than 500 scientists and experts sent a letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres saying the exact opposite. According to the scientists letter, which they called a “European Climate Declaration,” there is no “climate emergency,” and warned that “the general-circulation models of climate on which international policy is at present founded are unfit for the purpose.” According to the declaration, the models currently in use exaggerate the effects of CO2 as a greenhouse gas and “ignore the fact that enriching the atmosphere with CO2 is beneficial.” U of S Geologist Brian Pratt was one of the signatories on the letter, and he joins Gormley to discuss why he thinks the climate emergency is overblown.

11:30 – After years of investigation, police have declared Samuel Little the worst serial killer in American history. Little has admitted to 93 separate murders, and while 50 have already been verified by the authorities, they say they believe all of his confessions to be credible. From Jack the Ripper and Charles Manson to modern-day monsters like Robert Pickton and Elizabeth Wettlaufer, our society seems to be oddly obsessed with true crime. We love true crime and shows like “Mindhunter” and even “Dexter,” which made a serial killer into a hero. But why are we so fascinated by serial killers? Give us a call and let us know what you think!
