This harvest season has been difficult for many Saskatchewan farmers, and especially so for a family near Southey who lost their husband and father earlier this month.
Dan Zurowski put a call out to other farmers to help the family with harvest, and was amazed by the response.
“Saskatchewan is such a good province to help their neighbours out,” he said. “It was sure a relief to see everyone there when we got going. It was just unbelievable.”
Zurowski said about 50 people showed up with 17 combines to help out over the weekend.
“I’m dumbfounded. I watched the trucks go by — there was a steady stream of trucks going to the elevator with the crops they were pulling off. It was just amazing,” said Zurowski.
Zurowski said the harvest isn’t completely finished for the family, but it is now much more manageable to finish off.
