The City of Regina is marking the end of its 2019 construction season, touting major projects its crews completed throughout the summer and into the fall.
In an emailed media release, the City said it spent $83.9 million on residential road renewal and on major projects, including: Concrete and pavement fixes on Lewvan Drive between 11th Avenue and 1st Avenue; sewer relining along 15th Avenue between McIntosh Street and Wallace Street; replacing the two Ring Road bridges over Wascana Creek; improving intersections at Pasqua Street and Dewdney and at Pinkie Road and 9th Avenue North; fixing concrete and pavement on Dewdney Avenue; and finishing phase 1 of expressway light on Ring Road.
The City expects to continue some of the projects it started this year in 2020.
That includes further work on Victoria Avenue in the city’s downtown, “and the completion of Albert Street South between the south service roads and 25th Avenue,” the media release said.
“Residents have indicated that infrastructure is a top spending priority, and this year we focused construction on some of our major roadways,” Mayor Michael Fougere said in the release.
“The result of that work impacted residents and our goal for next construction season is to find improvements in the coordination, implementation and communication of the work to find efficiencies and reduce the impact,” he said.
The City also included some numbers and stats from its 2019 construction season. For example, it said that 25.1 kilometres of residential roads were improved.
