Is there anyone who doesn’t like the idea of the street outside of Mosaic Stadium being named after George Reed? I don’t think so.
I am just like a lot of people in Saskatchewan. I’ve been in the same room with Mr. Reed on many occasions. Every time I see him and talk to him, I am starstruck, as are many others.
His humility following the 2013 Grey Cup game still stands out to me.
The man who was the MVP of the 1966 Grey Cup told me that the 2013 championship win was the most important victory in franchise history.
Some retired athletes would go into how the game was better when they played, and how no players could measure up to the players of the past.
Not George. He was a Saskatchewanian and a fan first, making sure the spotlight was on what was just accomplished.
Earlier this week the spotlight was on George. His accomplishments as a player, ambassador and person will, and still do, stand the test of time.
