Couple gets engaged on stage at Saskatoon Keith Urban show

Raise em up.

That’s what 30-year-old Jacob Cepeda did with a sign saying “Keith Help Me Propose” at the sold-out Keith Urban show in Saskatoon on Saturday night.

Urban saw the sign and brought Cepeda and his girlfriend of eight years Ashley Iftody on stage.

“It was such a blur,” Iftody said. “I wish we would have got a selfie with him as a memory.”

The 31-year-old Iftody has been an Urban super fan for years and goes to see every concert she can in Western Canada.

“She told me it would be a great way to propose, so I did it,” Cepeda said.

It wasn’t easy, as he got turned down by the fan club because of the volume of requests they get for those sort of things.

That’s when Cepeda and his cousin Chanda Newton from Biggar S.K. came up with the plan.

“She really didn’t know about anything until it happened,” he said. “Ashley has been in love with him for so long that I kind of figured the vibes would get out there.”

Iftody actually had a chance to meet Urban after getting a meet and greet pass on Sept. 11, 2016 scheduled in Kelowna B.C., but she couldn’t go because her dad has terminal cancer.

“I couldn’t go because I’m taking care of him right now,” she said. “This was so much happiness that I needed at this present time, it keeps me going.”

The Edmonton couple had to do it in Saskatoon because the first-ever concert at Rogers Place on Sept. 16, 2016 sold out so quickly.

“I don’t think it would happen in Edmonton, it’s so big,” Iftody said.

It was a good choice as the couple was treated like country stars in the bridge city.

“People were coming up to hug us and offer their congratulations,” Iftody said. “Even on the shuttle bus when we left people yelled ‘it’s them.'”

The couple plan to have a destination wedding in the Bahamas in a year or two and of course, Urban is invited.

“We really hope he’ll come for it,” the couple said.
