Saskatoon police issued a reminder to drivers Saturday morning following freezing rain and snowfall.
“Motorists are reminded to slow down and give themselves extra time to reach their destination,” the news release read.
Highway Hotline is listing icy, slippery winter driving conditions around Saskatoon and north through Prince Albert, North Battleford and into La Loche.
Drivers told 650 CKOM about their commutes through our text line.
“You just gotta take it slow,” Mary said after driving from Osler to Saskatoon.
She describes highway conditions as slushy and slippery on what is normally a quick commute to work.
“It took much longer, I’m glad I left way early,” she said.
She suggests drivers stay home until conditions improve.
“If I didn’t have to work today I’d be in my pajamas still,” she said with a laugh.
Other drivers said conditions varied from dangerous to average winter driving through the central region.
Environment Canada expects road conditions will improve as the temperature rises to above freezing late in Saturday morning or early in the afternoon.
