Poll identifies roads as biggest issue in Saskatoon election

Candidates for mayor and city council in Saskatoon would be wise to bring along a plan for the city’s streets when they go to talk to voters, according to the latest Mainstreet/Postmedia poll.
 
Roads were identified as the single biggest concern for voters, with 23 per cent saying it was the top issue in the campaign.
 
Crime came in second, with 16 per cent of voters citing it as the most important issue. Taxes were rated highest by 11 per cent of voters, making them the third-most important issue of the campaign.
 
The survey of 802 residents of Saskatoon was conducted by phone on Sept. 13, 2016. A mix of cellphone and landline numbers was used, with results weighted by age and gender according to the 2011 census.
 
The poll is considered accurate 19 times out of 20 with a margin of error of 3.46 per cent.

Election day is Oct. 26.
