Environment Canada has issued extreme cold warnings for some parts of Saskatchewan.
The areas affected include regions in the north, and areas in the eastern portion of the province, including Humboldt, Yorkton, Wynyard, Lanigan and Moosomin, and as far south as the U.S. border.
The weather agency issued its most recent update Tuesday just after 10:30 a.m.
Environment Canada said in a statement: “An Arctic ridge of high pressure building over the prairies has ushered in a cold air mass. Temperatures this morning have dropped to near the -30 C mark in some areas.
“These temperatures in combination with westerly winds of 10 to 20 kilometres per hour are creating wind chill values of -40 C.”
The agency also advised that, “if it’s too cold for you to stay outside, it’s too cold for your pet to stay outside.”
