A Regina woman is pleading for her mother to be found, concerned she’s gone north to harm herself.
Alison Campbell said the last time she heard from her mother was Wednesday last week. She and her family are shocked and devastated her 65-year-old mother, Judy, went missing. Alison said a note left by Judy indicated she was going to end her life.
Alison said her mother was depressed and not sleeping very well, and Alison regrets she didn’t do more.
“I was just thinking on that Wednesday ‘I’ve got to touch base with her and make sure she’s doing okay’ … but I had no idea it got to the point where she would have left and potentially harmed herself like this.”
Alison had a message to send out to her mother:
“We love you mom and this is not you, this is the illness that has taken over, and there is help. You will feel better. It’s never too late, there’s lots of people who love you, and we just want you to come home.”
According to Alison, her mother said she was heading to visit her mother in Swift Current. However, the next day Alison and her brother hadn’t heard from Judy – and neither had family in Swift Current.
That’s when Alison called the police. Officers did a search on Judy’s phone and found the last text was sent from north of North Battleford.
“That was when we started getting very concerned,” said Alison.
Alison is spreading the word through Alberta, Saskatchewan, and especially northern parts of those provinces to look out for her mother.
“Like farmers or people who are out hiking or hunting. We’re worried she’s gone into more of an isolated retreat area and that’s why we haven’t been able to find her.”
Campbell is described as Caucasian, approximately 5 feet 4 inches tall, 130 pounds, medium build, with a medium complexion, hazel eyes and short brown hair.
She may be may be driving a light green four-door 2015 Subaru Cross Trek – license plate number 953 INQ.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Judy Lynn Campbell is asked to contact Regina police at 306-777-6500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
