8:30 – Jonathan Wilkinson, Canada’s new Minister of Environment and Climate Change, is in Regina today where he’ll be meeting with Provincial Environment Minister Dustin Duncan to discuss the carbon tax and the recent drop in the rebates Saskatchewan residents are expecting to receive this year. Wilkinson, who was raised in Saskatoon, has said he’s aiming to repair the rifts with Saskatchewan and other western provinces while maintaining the federal government’s carbon tax and other initiatives that have been unpopular in Western Canada. Wilkinson joins Gormley to talk about these issues and more.

9:00 – Hugsday: The Hour of PRAISE
10:00 – Dr. Esam Hussein, a professor who studies nuclear science at the department of engineering and applied science at the U of S, says Saskatchewan should look at enriching its own uranium. This province, along with New Brunswick and Ontario, has committed to develop and deploy small modular reactors (SMRs) for power generation, and that means enriched uranium will likely be needed to power them as a fuel source. While Saskatchewan has the largest high-grade deposits of uranium in the world, Hussein says it would be an ironic economic loss if our uranium was mined, exported to be enriched elsewhere, and then sold back to us. Hussein says uranium enrichment could become a valuable industry in Saskatchewan, and the least we should be doing is studying the economic, environmental, and social sustainability of uranium enrichment in this province. He joins Gormley now to discuss SMRs and uranium enrichment.
