A 40-year-old man is facing several charges including kidnapping after Regina police say he got into a vehicle at a busy intersection and forced the woman inside to drive him around.
Police said they spotted a stolen vehicle with a stolen licence plate driving on McIntosh Street and Litzenberger Crescent on Friday at around 7:25 p.m. The vehicle eventually stopped on Rochdale Boulevard and that’s where police said they tried to arrest him, but he ran.
He went to the intersection at Rochdale and McCarthy Boulevard. It was there that police said he got into the passenger side door of a vehicle stopped for a red light and then forced the woman inside to drive him.
The vehicle eventually stopped in the area of 5th Ave. and Retallack St. The suspect got out and with the help of the police canine team, he was found and arrested.
The man faces several charges, including kidnapping and possession of property obtained by crime both over and under $5,000.
The woman driving the vehicle wasn’t hurt.
