She had been missing for almost two weeks when Judy Campbell was found dead by volunteers searchers on Sunday night.
The 65-year-old Regina woman was last heard from on Sept. 21. She’d told her family she was visiting family in Swift Current, but her daughter said a message indicated Campbell might try to harm herself.
On Sept. 27, Campbell’s vehicle was found west of Swift Current.
For two days last week RCMP search and rescue, Ministry of Environment conservation officers, and volunteers searched the area near where Campbell’s vehicle was found. Police brought in ATVs, drones, dogs, and air support.
On Friday, police decided to suspend the search as their “efforts were exhausted”, but volunteers continued. Through Saturday and Sunday, dozens of volunteers searched the area, reportedly including a local farmer who came out and helped search on horseback. Campbell’s body was found Sunday night, close to where her SUV was found.
RCMP said the cause of her death has not yet been determined.
