Snow continues to fall in Saskatchewan.
Environment Canada issued snowfall warnings in areas across the province, including Saskatoon, Prince Albert, Swift Current and Cypress Hills.
Terri Lang, a Meteorologist with Environment Canada, said the system is beginning to move into Manitoba.
“We can expect the snow to continue through the night and probably start to taper off tomorrow from west to east.”
Most of the reports Lang has received have indicated much of the province have received 10 to 15 cm of snow, with the Cypress Hills area getting 24 cm and snow is still falling.
“The southeast corner, that’s in the milder air and that’s why it’s melting there, sort of Regina towards Estevan and Weyburn it’s not accumulating as much, but certainly through the rest of the province, it certainly is accumulating.”
Lang also said temperatures will begin to move back to seasonal as the weekend approaches.
Highway Road Report
As of 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, travel is not recommended in Saskatoon, Swift Current, The Battlefords, Tisdale and Prince Albert.
Highway #1 from Regina to Moose Jaw has slush on it and it is wet with the possibility of it freezing.
The highway from Whitewood to Indian Head and Indian Head to Regina is wet and subject to freezing as well.
Swift Current to the Alberta border is seeing reduced visibility and Icy or Slippery road conditions, and drifting snow.
La Ronge has zero and reduced visibility in various places as well as icy roads and swirling snow.
For Regina, the roads have slush on them and have the possibility of freezing.
RCMP collision numbers
RCMP detachments around the province were responding multiple minor collisions on the province’s roads and highways on Wednesday.
Weather has played a factor in them, with vehicles slipping off of the roads.
As of 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, the RCMP responded to 46 calls.
RCMP have said there have not been any major collisions to report at this point. In some cases, traffic has been temporarily diverted, but no road closures have been reported.
