An early morning crash between two vehicles in Regina caused the death of one person.
According to a release from the Regina Police Service, police were called to the intersection of Albert Street and 25th Ave. on Saturday at about 2:59 a.m.
A Dodge Journey and a Kia Spectra were both traveling north. The Kia Spectra was stopped at a red light but the driver of the Dodge was traveling at a high speed and slammed into the back of the Kia.
The driver of the Kia was treated at the scene for minor injuries but the front seat passenger, a woman in her late 20’s was fatally injured. Her name is not being released.
The driver of the Dodge, 28-year-old Brendan Sugar, was charged with impaired driving causing death, exceed .08 causing death, exceed .08 causing bodily harm, and impaired driving causing bodily harm.
Sugar made his first court appearance Tuesday morning.
He will remain in custody until his bail hearing Friday morning.
