Regina residents have until Saturday to provide feedback on how they envision the future of the Saskatchewan Drive corridor.
The City of Regina is taking input through an online survey that will help guide concepts that will be shown to the public for further consultation.
Aging underground infrastructure needs to be replaced in the coming years, presenting an opportunity to revitalize the area.
“(Saskatchewan Drive) is seen as a gateway to downtown, an important thoroughfare. We want to make sure it looks really good and there’s lots of development that could happen there,” Mayor Michael Fougere said Thursday.
Some of the changes could include wider sidewalks, more trees and crosswalks at every intersection. As well, permanent on-street parking, bike lanes and bump-outs on sidewalks could be part of the plan.
Nothing would get built until at least 2023.
While speaking to the Greg Morgan Morning Show on Thursday, the mayor said businesses have nothing to fear with the project.
“Some of the businesses I’ve heard (from) are worried about what does it mean for them … This is not about changing your business,” he said.
