Library sends lost Regina bunny on adventure

There he was alone and afraid with nothing to do at the Regina Public Library’s children’s branch but read books.

As he turned the pages, a world of wonder opened up to him.

So what is a little stuffed bunny left to do when his three-year-old owner accidentally left him behind? He headed out into that big wide world.

Roger Rabbit went on a global adventure thanks to the staff at the library.

It all started back in August when Charlotte Book was visiting the branch with her mom Colleen and she forgot her precious toy.

Heading back as quickly as they could, Roger was no where to be found.

Over the coming weeks they continued to call in to see if he had returned.

To ease her daughter’s pain, Colleen told Charlotte “bunny” was on vacation having adventures.

Overhearing this and realizing Roger had been located, staff member Alejandra Cabrera decided to have some fun.

“I thought, OK, let’s make this a thing because it would be hilarious,” Cabrera said.

“I just thought I would do it for fun, something fun for the kid, I didn’t expect it to blow into this at all.”

Cabrera and her colleagues Photoshopped Roger in various locations around the world.

He could be found at the pyramids, a casino, on a cruise ship, scuba-diving, on a rollercoaster and even in the overhead bins on an airplane.

Then through Charlotte’s aunt, Cabrera saw that Roger was returned home, a photo album and a letter about what happened to him in hand.

“We were all very surprised and very thrilled. But nobody was more thrilled than Charlie,” said Charlotte’s mom.

“It was incredibly kind of the staff at the RPL. They obviously knew the bunny meant a lot to Charlie. To show her he had been of this adventure, I cannot thank the library staff enough.”

As for Charlotte, she has made a promise to Roger never to let him go again, at least, not without her on the adventure too.

“He was on an adventures in a castle. I missed him this much,” Charlotte said, stretching her arms out wide.
