The Regina Police Service and Alberta’s chief medical examiner are investigating the case of a Regina man who died in Edmonton earlier this month.
According to a media release Thursday from Regina police, officers responded to a home in the 1600 block of Athol Street on Jan. 6 after receiving a report of an injured man.
In the basement of the home, officers found a 38-year-old man who had suffered what the police release called “extensive burn injuries.”
Paramedics transported the man to a Regina hospital, but doctors subsequently decided he should be sent to hospital in Edmonton.
On Jan. 14, Regina police were informed the man had died. An autopsy to determine the cause and manner of his death was ordered by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of Alberta.
The chief medical examiner and Regina police are continuing to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to call the Regina Police Service at 306-777-6500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
The police aren’t releasing the man’s name.
