The Saskatchewan Roughriders ticked off a major priority with Sunday’s signing of linebacker Cameron Judge.
Now, the timing of the announcement during the Super Bowl maybe allowed this to fly under the radar but as far as off-season moves go, this was No. 1 for the Riders.
Judge was my pick for top Canadian in the CFL, but ended up losing to Henoc Muamba.
Judge was everywhere. Sacks, interceptions, knockdowns, special teams, Judge has gone from a feared bust when he got injured in his first season to an all-Canadian talent.
Judge nearly retired from the game after that rookie-season injury. Chris Jones and Judge’s family convinced him to keep going.
Now the Riders have him for another season as he clearly hasn’t given up the NFL dream, wanting another crack next year. But for now he’s a Rider and Saskatchewan should try to keep it that way for as long as he’s in the CFL.
Next priority: Receiver Shaq Evans.
