The CFL can’t win in Toronto and they aren’t doing themselves any favours by being so boisterous this past offseason about the move to BMO Field and the resurgence of the Argos in Toronto.
They tried to help sell tickets for year one with a Grey Cup following the Argos to BMO, but then came the pricing for the Grey Cup.
It was outrageous. Many tickets over 400 bucks, top pricing was 8-7-6 hundred dollars, and the media in Toronto and around the country ripped them. Including me. There was no way those tickets were going to be a hot ticket, especially with the Argos no where near the top of the league.
And guess what, down come the prices but the same media types are now saying the league is somehow an embarrassment for not being able to come close to a sell out.
Wait? Didn’t we all know this was going to happen.
At least the Argos are accepting it and dropping the prices.
They were overconfident from the get go in their new home and the league made a mistake giving them the Grey Cup in year one in the first place.
