Saskatoon police block off streets in Mayfair to search home

Police officers dressed in tactical gear and holding rifles blocked off several streets in the Mayfair neighbourhood Wednesday morning.  

An armoured vehicle was also part of the contingent working to execute a search warrant in the 1600 block of Avenue C North.

As of 11:30 a.m., police said the situation was drawing to a close.

Neighbour Christine, who didn’t want to give her last name, said she first heard a loud bang just after 8 a.m. She watched the scene unfold from her front window.

“I can see two (officers) standing there with rifles and there’s a couple that are running back and forth up 38th Street,” she said.

People are asked to avoid the area and follow instructions from officers on scene.
