8:30 – Protests in solidarity with groups opposing the Coastal GasLink pipeline are shutting down rail transport in Canada and disrupting traffic in major cities. While the issue is in B.C., protests have shut down CN Rail’s eastern operations and Via Rail’s passenger service. Both Saskatoon and Regina have seen protesters shutting down traffic this week as well. Premier Scott Moe says the rail blockades are illegal and are aiming to “hamstring the Canadian economy.” Moe says he supports the protesters’ right to demonstrate and voice their opinions, but not to break the law. The premier joins Gormley to share his thoughts on the disruptive protests and how he’d like to see the police respond.

12:00 – Erik Foster knows what PTSD looks like. That’s because the 52-year-old volunteer fire fighter from Colonsay was diagnosed with PTSD due to his work two years ago. Since then, he’s been working to understand more about the issue and raise awareness. Starting on Family Day Monday, Foster and his 15-year-old son will depart on a week-long snowmobile journey taking them from Colonsay to Saskatoon, then on to Prince Albert, Candle Lake, Tisdale, and Humboldt to visit fire halls and raise awareness with fire fighters and their families and help them recognize the signs of PTSD. Foster joins Gormley now to discuss his “Ride to Survive,” and why it’s so important for everyone to be able to recognize operational stress injuries.
