A Saskatoon police officer won’t be facing any criminal charges from the RCMP after a viral video allegedly depicted him berating a young child.
The Saskatchewan RCMP said investigators reviewed the video but didn’t find any criminal action involved in the verbal attacks heard throughout.
The man in the video can be heard raising his voice with a crying child off-screen, telling the child repeatedly that their father had “failed” them.
Saskatoon police said Wednesday that Const. Patrick Skinnider was on leave while a review was conducted.
The RCMP said the matter was back in Saskatoon police hands after the service asked for the Mounties’ assistance.
The woman who took the video, who claims to be the child’s aunt, told 650 CKOM her sister wouldn’t speak to her after the video was posted.
