The future is bright for Saskatchewan to end its 40-year drought at the Brier.
This past week in Kingston, Ont., Matt Dunstone’s rink hung in there with what many believe was the strongest Brier field of all time.
The championship round included past champs in Brad Gushue, Kevin Koe and Brad Jacobs and other top Canadian skips in Brendan Bottcher, John Epping, Mike McEwen and Jason Gunnlaugson.
Dunstone is right there with them.
Of course, in the real world of men’s curling, you never know how long a team will actually stay together. If this foursome can continue to work the Tour and get to more Briers, it can definitely take the next step.
Look at Gushue’s rink. It couldn’t win for the longest time but now it has Olympic gold, three Brier championships and a world championship to its name.
This week’s experience will only make the members of Dunstone’s team better — and they’re already pretty darn good.
