A man wanted on Canada-wide warrants in connection with two murders in Alberta was among five people arrested during drug searches in Regina on Friday.
In a media release Tuesday, the Regina Police Service said its Drug Unit and Integrated Crime Reduction Team executed five search warrants as part of an investigation into fentanyl trafficking.
Three raids were conducted in the 1200 block of Retallack Street and two were conducted in the 1200 block of Robinson Street.
Officers found more than 380 grams of fentanyl, crack cocaine and methamphetamine, about $4,000 and a loaded stolen .40-calibre handgun.
Among those arrested was 29-year-old Mohamud Omar Dhiblawe of Toronto. In addition to two drug charges and one of possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000 stemming from the drug bust, he also was arrested on the outstanding murder warrants.
Dhiblawe was wanted in connection with the murder of a 35-year-old man in Lethbridge on Feb. 6, and the killing of a 32-year-old man in Edmonton on Feb. 8.
A 21-year-old man from Scarborough, Ont., a 47-year-old woman from Regina, a 46-year-old man from Regina and a 34-year-old woman from Regina also were arrested in Friday’s raids.
