There will be another party on the ballot for the 2020 provincial election.
In a media release Tuesday, Saskatchewan’s chief electoral officer announced that Wexit Saskatchewan “has completed the requirements to become a registered political party in Saskatchewan.”
Wexit Saskatchewan joins the NDP, the PC Party of Saskatchewan, the Saskatchewan Green Party, the Saskatchewan Liberal Party and the Saskatchewan Party as the list of official parties in the province.
In order to get registered, a party must submit a petition signed by at least 2,500 voters, “1,000 of whom must reside in at least 10 different constituencies, with a minimum of 100 voters from each of those constituencies.”
Wexit Saskatchewan accomplished that and, on Tuesday, officially was registered.
It now can “incur expenses, solicit and receive contributions, participate in the Province’s political contributions tax credit regime, and field candidates for election to the Legislative Assembly.”
As of Tuesday, Wexit Saskatchewan now can issue tax receipts for contributions.
