Two U of R students self-isolating due to flu-like symptoms

Two students at the University of Regina are now self-isolating after experiencing flu-like symptoms.

The university confirmed it has made arrangements for the two students to self-isolate after consultation with the Saskatchewan Health Authority.

Both students have been tested for COVID-19 but test results are currently pending.

The university said in a statement that this is a precautionary move in accordance with the plans and protocols the school has in place to help manage the threat of COVID-19.

In the statement, the university indicated it is not unusual for people to self-isolate as it’s part of the routine of reporting flu-like symptoms or potential exposure based on travel history.

The university stated the best thing its students, faculty and staff can do is to practise good hygiene and social distancing in order to reduce the risk of infection.

The university is following the advice of the SHA and the Public Health Agency of Canada in all its containment and contingency planning.
