Two independent observers have been appointed to the investigation into a woman’s death being conducted by the Regina Police Service.
Police were dispatched to a call on April 10 around 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of Victoria Avenue and St. John Street. Several officers arrived and police said they found a 32-year-old woman in distress and vomiting blood onto herself and the sidewalk. Police said the woman did not appear to have any external injuries.
Officers requested EMS but due to the woman’s deteriorating condition and the hospital only being a few blocks away police elected to drive her in one of the officer’s vehicles.
Around 11 p.m., police were told the woman had died at the hospital. Her family has been notified and her name is not being released by police at this time.
There was no signs of foul play at the scene and police do not have evidence that indicates the woman’s death was the result of any criminal act.
Since the woman was in the care of officers for a brief amount of time prior to her death, the Regina Police Service contacted the Ministry of Justice per protocol.
