Over to you, Gary Drummond.
The extremely successful Saskatchewan businessman is now the frontman for the group trying to bring a 10th franchise to the CFL.
The former leader of the group for Schooners Sports and Entertainment, Anthony LeBlanc, has reduced his role within the group and joined Eugene Melnyk in Ottawa as the Senators’ president of business operations.
The Schooners’ owners all have major stakes in other entities. The Schooners were always a side game but when LeBlanc is going full time with another sports franchise, it raises eyebrows on what has been a slow and frustrating process in Halifax.
Council hasn’t been easy to win over and the original stadium plan continues to get scaled back.
Drummond’s experience and ability to draw on some friends within the Saskatchewan Roughriders organizaton could help in the lobbying in Halifax to make a business plan everyone can be happy with.
LeBlanc’s departure from the frontlines isn’t a death knell for the Schooners, but it’s an indication the process is starting to wear thin on the men trying to make it happen.
